Pegula Stuns World No. 1 Sabalenka in Berlin Semis; Faces Noskova in Final

American tennis player Jessica Pegula caused a significant upset at the Berlin WTA 500 tournament, defeating world number one Aryna Sabalenka in a hard-fought semifinal match. Pegula secured her spot in the final with a commanding 6-4, 6-7, 6-0 victory.

The match, played on grass, saw Pegula, currently ranked fourth globally, take an early lead by breaking Sabalenka's serve twice in the first set. Despite facing break points herself, Pegula maintained her composure to clinch the first set.

However, Sabalenka rallied in the second set, forcing a tiebreak after Pegula squandered multiple set points. The tiebreak, interrupted by rain, was eventually won by Sabalenka, leveling the match at one set apiece. The disruption and the lost opportunities appeared to affect Sabalenka's confidence.

In the deciding third set, Pegula dominated completely, serving Sabalenka a bagel with a decisive 6-0 scoreline. She sealed the victory on her third match point, demonstrating resilience despite the earlier setback and the weather delay.

Pegula is now set to face Czech player Linda Noskova in the final. Noskova, ranked 13th in the world, advanced by defeating Alexandra Eala of the Philippines in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, in a semifinal match that also experienced a rain delay.
