Pelindo launches Terminal 2 Container facility at Tanjung Priok Port

PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), or Pelindo, has officially commenced soft launching and trial operations for its Terminal 2 Petikemas at Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta. This strategic move is designed to bolster the productivity of integrated container services and significantly contribute to the efficiency of national logistics.

The commencement was marked by the maiden docking of the container vessel MV Meratus Konawe at Terminal 2. This event served as a demonstration of the terminal's readiness, showcasing its facilities, equipment, and services capable of supporting safe, reliable, and efficient loading and unloading processes. During the event, Pelindo also formally designated the terminal's name as Terminal 2 Petikemas.

Pelindo's President Director, Achmad Muchtasyar, stated that the operation of Terminal 2 Petikemas is a key component of the company's ongoing transformation. The goal is to deliver increasingly efficient and competitive port services. "The operation of Terminal 2 Petikemas is an important step to strengthen the capacity and productivity of container services at Tanjung Priok Port," Achmad said. He emphasized the company's aim to enhance productivity and integration through asset monetization, thereby supporting the national supply chain and improving Indonesia's logistics competitiveness.

The new terminal features a 517.5-meter quay with a depth of -12 meters LWS, capable of accommodating vessels up to 30,000 DWT. It also includes a container stacking area of approximately 98,700 square meters with a capacity of 8,425 TEUs. Operational support includes one Quay Container Crane (QCC), four Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGCs), and other essential equipment, managed by 70 personnel. Pelindo plans to further enhance the terminal's capacity by adding two more QCC units by the fourth quarter of 2026.
