Peña accepts donation from Agriculture Minister for future hospital

President Santiago Peña of Paraguay has officially accepted a land donation designated for the permanent construction of the District Hospital in Choré, located in the department of San Pedro. The property was offered by Carlos Giménez, the current Minister of Agriculture and Livestock.

The decree, signed by President Peña on August 12, formally accepts the donation from Carlos Alcibíades Giménez Díaz to the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare. Giménez, a senator with a leave of absence, has a significant political history in the San Pedro region, having previously served as governor and mayor of Choré.

According to the decree, the Ministry of Public Health had requested the acceptance of the donation, noting that the land parcel, identified as Fraction "A-2" with specific property details, will serve as the permanent site for the Choré District Hospital. This facility falls within the service area of the II Health Region.

The official document states that the donation is anticipated to bring substantial benefits to the residents of Choré. The Directorate General of Legal Advisory of the Ministry of Public Health provided a favorable legal opinion on July 8, supporting the acceptance of the donated property.

Notably, Emilse Giménez, the minister's sister and a candidate for mayor of Choré in the upcoming municipal elections, has been mentioned in connection with local health services. Reports indicate she was seen with officials at the local health center, which had received an ambulance from the Ministry of Health during her campaign.
