Penghu County Council inspects Xiyu construction needs

The Penghu County Council has undertaken an inspection tour of Xiyu Township to assess local construction needs and address resident concerns. Councilor Xu Yueli led the delegation, which included Deputy Magistrate Lin Jiaxing and other county officials, to examine various infrastructure and community facilities.

The inspection began with a visit to the village road next to Heheng Elementary School and the Hejie Community Activity Center. Residents reported that the road, used for over 30 years, has an uneven surface and blocked drainage, leading to water accumulation during rain. The activity center's building shows severe wall peeling, and the second-floor ceiling is deteriorating, posing safety risks to users.

Attention then turned to the Chi Dong Double Arch Bridge, a popular tourist spot. The bridge, built years ago, exhibits significant rust, and two pavilions on the bridge are damaged, impacting visitor safety and the tourism experience. Deputy Magistrate Lin Jiaxing stated the county government will assist the Xiyu Township Office in applying for funds from the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation to improve the bridge and its surrounding environment.

Further inspections included the Niuxin Mountain area, known for its basalt columns and traditional fish corrals. A "daydream pavilion" has been installed for visitors, and Councilor Xu suggested adding more greenery to enhance the landscape. An entrance archway is planned for Waian, with its base completed and awaiting power application, expected to be unveiled before the "Penghu International Maritime Fireworks Festival - Xiyu Field" event.

Concerns were also raised about water accumulation on the road next to the Xiyu Township Kindergarten due to a height difference between the seawall and the road. Lin Jiaxing assured that the relevant departments would study drainage improvement solutions to mitigate flooding and enhance road safety.
