Penultimate Race Of GTWCE Endurance Season Brings Nürburgring Return For Al Harthy

Ahmad Al Harthy is returning to the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup, refreshed after a two-month break, and is targeting significant championship points in the upcoming penultimate race at Germany's Nürburgring circuit on August 29th-30th.

Al Harthy, alongside co-drivers Calan Williams and Javier Sagrera, is aiming for a strong comeback after an unfortunate retirement during the 24 Hours of Spa in late July. This marks Al Harthy's first visit to the Nürburgring since 2024. Racing in the Bronze Cup, he is optimistic about returning to podium contention, especially at the home track of BMW, the manufacturer powering his car for the third season.

The season began promisingly with a top-six Bronze Cup finish at Circuit Paul Ricard in France. This was followed by a strong third-place podium finish in the three-hour race at Monza, Italy, at the end of May. This result marked the first podium for the Oman Racing by Century Motorsport collaboration, with the trio impressively climbing from eighth on the grid in the Bronze Cup (47th overall) to secure third place in their class and just outside the top 10 overall.

It’s been a long break of a couple of months since we were last in action at Spa, but we’ve been working hard behind the scenes and focusing on delivering the best car and set-up we can for this weekend’s action. I’m delighted to be back in Germany again, Nürburgring is a special place and a track that is, of course, very important for BMW.

Despite demonstrating excellent teamwork, consistency, and speed, the team faced challenges at the Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa. Early damage on lap one required a significant recovery effort from Al Harthy, Williams, Sagrera, and fourth driver Pedro Ebrahim. However, further contact later in the race led to their retirement, ending another potential podium bid.

Supported by key partners OQ, Omantel, Oman LNG, Oman Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, and BMW Oman, Al Harthy, a two-time Endurance Cup Pro-Am Champion, is setting high goals for the Nürburgring race. He is determined to improve his standing in the championship table, expressing confidence in the team's hard work and preparation during the break.
