People First Party holds 7th anniversary rally in Taichung, Mayor Lu to attend

The People First Party (PFP) is set to celebrate its 7th anniversary with a rally in Taichung this Sunday afternoon. The event, to be held at the Zhen Ai Garden Hotel, will feature appearances by founding chairman Ko Wen-je and current chairman Huang Kuo-chang. Notably, Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen, a key figure in advocating for blue-white cooperation, is also expected to attend as the host city's mayor.

With just over three months remaining until the year-end elections, the political atmosphere is intensifying. The PFP is placing significant emphasis on the Taichung mayoral race and will use the anniversary rally as a platform to officially launch their campaign for the PFP's Kaohsiung mayoral candidate, Chang Chi-kai, and other council candidates across the nation. The party aims to secure more seats than in the previous election cycle.

In Taichung, the PFP currently holds two council seats. However, one member, Chen Ching-lung, also became a legislator-at-large, leading to a vacancy. The party's goal for this election is to win at least three seats in Taichung to establish their own caucus. This election is seen as a crucial test of the PFP's growing influence.

Mayor Lu Shiow-yen has maintained a good relationship with the PFP, having facilitated blue-white cooperation during the last legislative elections. Although the PFP has not yet announced other political party attendees for the rally, Lu's presence, despite having no other public engagements scheduled, underscores the party's importance and the ongoing political collaborations in Taiwan.
