People have courage to fight against injustice: Uddhav Thackeray on student protests

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government for its handling of protests, describing the approach as undemocratic. Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Thackeray stated that interacting with protesters revealed their determination and courage to fight injustice.

Thackeray drew a stark comparison between the current government and British rule, suggesting that the BJP's actions against students made the British appear preferable. "It’s the duty of the government to listen to protestors and through dialogue resolve the issue. But the government ignored them. It is not democratic way to handle the protests," he said.

He also referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann ki Baat’ program, contrasting it with the government's perceived unwillingness to listen to its citizens. "You want the country to listen to your Mann Ki Baat but you are not ready to listen to the Mann Ki Baat of people. You brutally attacked students," Thackeray stated. He further stressed the importance of opposition parties coordinating their efforts to effectively counter the ruling party.
