People Power Party Leader Jang Dong-hyuk Discharged from Hospital, Eyes Return to Duty

Jang Dong-hyuk, the leader of South Korea's People Power Party, was discharged from a Seoul hospital on June 24, six days after being admitted for deteriorating health. His departure from the hospital was met with cheers from supporters gathered outside.

Jang's hospitalization followed a period of intense political activity, including a hunger strike in January and his involvement in addressing issues related to the June 3 local elections. These events are believed to have contributed to his weakened condition.

Following his discharge, speculation is rife within political circles about Jang's imminent return to party duties. A press conference at the National Assembly in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, is being considered for June 24, contingent on his health status. Park Joon-tae, the party's chief of staff, indicated Jang's strong desire to resume his responsibilities promptly.

Regarding potential party reshuffles, Park stated that Jang has not instructed anyone to review party positions, and no such review has taken place. The focus remains on Jang's recovery and his eventual return to lead the party.
