Pepe Aguilar releases album honoring his father, Antonio, but excludes niece Majo

Pepe Aguilar is set to release a new album dedicated to his father, the legendary Antonio Aguilar, also known as "el Rey del corrido." The project features new versions of his father's most iconic songs, performed by contemporary regional Mexican artists.

Aguilar stated the album's purpose is to introduce younger audiences to his father's music, many of whom may not be familiar with it due to generational gaps. "There are many artists, we are going to do a lot of work, the idea is to bring them closer to songs that, perhaps because they did not live in that time, they do not know and it is worth knowing them," he explained.

The album, described as "historic," will include performances by La Banda MS, Banda El Recodo, Lucero, Carín León, Alfredito Olivas, and Aguilar's own children, Ángela and Leonardo. However, when questioned by press about the lineup, Aguilar confirmed that his niece, Majo Aguilar, would not be participating in this particular release.

Despite Majo's absence from this album, Pepe Aguilar expressed openness to including her in future projects. "Surely there will be more, Majo is my niece, I love her, I adore her, surely she will be there, she wasn't in this one, but there will be more, Cristian (Nodal) and many more singers," he said. He emphasized that the main goal is for new generations to recognize Antonio Aguilar and his music.
