Perlis Sepak Takraw Team Aims to Make History with Sukma Gold

The Perlis sepak takraw team is setting its sights on a historic achievement at the 2026 Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Selangor, targeting at least one gold and one silver medal. The team, representing the state through the Bongkok Sepak Takraw Club (BSTC), is determined to make its mark at the biennial event.

Team manager Mohd Masri Saidin stated that to meet these ambitious goals, the athletes have been undergoing rigorous intensive training since last year. The team aims to compete for the eight medals available in the sport.

Their previous best performance at Sukma was in 2024 in Sarawak, where they secured a silver medal in the women's double category and a bronze in the men's quadron. The Sukma Selangor 2026 is scheduled to take place from August 15 to 24, featuring 474 events across 37 sports at 52 venues. The coaching staff is optimistic about the Perlis sepak takraw team's potential to contribute medals, contingent on favorable draws and the athletes' performance on competition days.
