Persija Jakarta finishes third in Piala Presiden Elite 2026 with 3-1 win over Arema FC

Persija Jakarta concluded their Piala Presiden Elite 2026 campaign on a high note, clinching third place with a decisive 3-1 victory over Arema FC. The match for third place took place at the I Wayan Dipta Stadium in Gianyar, Bali.

Persija established an early lead in the seventh minute when Witan Sulaeman skillfully navigated into the penalty box and fired a shot past the goalkeeper. Arema FC managed to equalize in the 28th minute through Salim Tuharea, who capitalized on a scramble following a free-kick. Arema FC briefly thought they had taken the lead just before halftime, but a goal was disallowed after a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review determined the ball had touched Salim Tuharea's hand.

In the second half, Persija regained the advantage in the 73rd minute. A swift counter-attack saw Witan Sulaeman involved in the build-up, with the ball eventually reaching Arlyansyah Abdulmanan, who scored from close range. Witan Sulaeman sealed the victory in the 87th minute, scoring his second goal after a well-placed through ball from Victor Dethan, securing Persija's third-place finish.
