Pertamina Patra Niaga Ready to Distribute B50, Solar Imports Projected to Decrease by 18 Million Kiloliters

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has announced its readiness to distribute Biodiesel B50, coinciding with the launch of President Prabowo Subianto's mandatory B50 program. This initiative is expected to significantly bolster national energy security by projecting a reduction in solar (diesel) imports by around 18 million kiloliters in 2026.

As the Commercial & Trading Subholding of PT Pertamina (Persero), Pertamina Patra Niaga has meticulously prepared its infrastructure, distribution systems, and supply chain. These preparations aim to guarantee that the B50 distribution adheres to regulations without compromising the reliability of the energy supply for the public. The company views the mandatory B50 program as a pivotal step toward strengthening national energy resilience and self-sufficiency through increased utilization of domestic energy resources.

The B50 Mandatory Program will have a positive impact on national energy security through the reduction of solar imports projected to reach around 18 million kiloliters in 2026 or equivalent to around 310 thousand barrels per day. Pertamina is committed to supporting the success of this strategic program as part of the effort to realize Indonesia's energy independence.

Simon Aloysius Mantiri, President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), stated that the B50 program aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's vision to optimize domestic resources, lessen dependence on fuel imports, and support Indonesia's energy transition. He emphasized that the program's impact on national energy security, through the projected reduction in solar imports, is substantial. Pertamina is committed to supporting this strategic program as part of its contribution to achieving Indonesia's energy independence.

Muhammad Baron, Vice President of Corporate Communication at Pertamina, highlighted the company's extensive experience in supporting the government's mandatory biodiesel policies, having previously managed B20, B30, B35, and B40. This experience provides a strong foundation for ensuring an optimal transition to B50. Baron confirmed that Pertamina and Pertamina Patra Niaga have prepared all operational aspects, including infrastructure, distribution, and coordination with government bodies and stakeholders. He assured that the quality of the B50 Biosolar distributed will meet government-specified standards, ensuring consumers receive a product of maintained quality. The company, alongside the government and stakeholders, has conducted rigorous testing to confirm facility readiness, product quality, and smooth distribution across Indonesia. A transition period until September 30, 2026, is in place for the B50 program, during which Pertamina Patra Niaga will implement gradual distribution adjustments. Baron also noted that supporting B50 implementation underscores Pertamina's commitment to the Net Zero Emission (NZE) 2060 target and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
