Pertamina Patra Niaga Supports Coastal Communities in Developing Marine Product Businesses

Coastal communities in Kampung Tua Terih, Batam, are transforming their marine resources into productive ventures through an initiative by Pertamina Patra Niaga. The company's Community Involvement & Development (CID) program, named Kampung Bahari Si Pelaut, empowers local fishermen and women's groups to develop a range of marine-based products. This program aims to enhance food security, create business opportunities, and boost family incomes. During a recent visit, Pertamina Patra Niaga's management, including Commissioner Sabar Yudo Suroso, observed the program's progress and donated 1,000 grouper fingerlings and 500 tilapia fingerlings to local cooperatives. The initiative also involves aquaponics and mangrove rehabilitation, demonstrating a holistic approach to community development and environmental sustainability. The program has shown significant economic impact, increasing the average income of participating fishermen and women entrepreneurs by approximately 40%, from Rp27.56 million to Rp68.45 million. Dian, head of the Sukses Bersama processing group, highlighted the increased confidence and skills gained by members, enabling them to expand their product line from one or two items to six distinct offerings. This has directly contributed to meeting daily family needs and improving their overall quality of life.
