Pertamina Raises Pertamax Fuel Prices Amid Global Market Increases

State-owned energy company Pertamina Patra Niaga has adjusted its fuel prices, increasing the cost of non-subsidized Pertamax (RON 92) from Rp12,300 to Rp16,250 per liter and Pertamax Green 95 (RON 95) from Rp12,900 to Rp17,000 per liter, effective June 10.

VP Commercial & Shipping Business Development at Pertamina Patra Niaga, Sigit Setiawan, highlighted that global market prices for RON 92 fuel are currently between Rp20,000 and Rp21,000 per liter. He noted that in Thailand, similar fuel grades can cost around Rp23,000 per liter when converted to rupiah.

Setiawan explained that the "upper limit" price for Pertamax had reached Rp18,745 per liter in April 2026, up from Rp12,397 in March. This calculation is based on the Market Index Price (HIP) and exchange rates, following the formula for general fuel (JBU) prices. Geopolitical conflicts, particularly since late February 2026, have significantly influenced these JBU price formulas. The upper price limit for solar (diesel) increased by Rp6,300 to Rp7,300 per liter, while for gasoline, it rose by Rp10,800 to Rp10,930 per liter.

Further increases saw the upper price limit for Pertamax jump to Rp20,157 per liter in May 2026 and then to Rp20,942 per liter in June 2026. Despite these market pressures, Pertamina had previously maintained the Pertamax price at Rp12,300 per liter, with Pertamax Green also held at its previous price. Setiawan stated that the recent price hike for these non-subsidized fuels is necessary to ensure stock availability.
