Peru offers free museum entry for national holiday weekend

Peru's Ministry of Culture has declared that all museums under its administration will offer free admission nationwide from July 27 to 29. This decision aligns with the nation's 205th Independence Day celebrations, providing an opportunity for both Peruvian citizens and foreign residents to explore cultural spaces without charge.

The initiative, formalized by Ministerial Resolution N.° 000221-2026-MC, aims to broaden public access to cultural heritage and foster a deeper appreciation for Peru's history and diversity during the national holiday period. The Ministry stated that this move supports the National Culture Policy up to 2030, which emphasizes ensuring cultural heritage is accessible to all as a public good.

Each museum will maintain its regular operating hours, and visitors are advised to check specific schedules beforehand. Information on participating museums and their hours will be available on the Ministry of Culture's official platform.
