Peru's Apurímac region nears completion of spectacular new stadium

The Estadio Monumental de Condebamba in Abancay, Peru, is entering its final construction phase, with an anticipated completion date of November 2026. This significant infrastructure project aims to transform the stadium into a modern venue capable of hosting professional football matches and large-scale cultural events.

The renovation will substantially increase the stadium's spectator capacity to over 18,000 with the addition of new East and West stands. Beyond seating, the upgraded facility will feature a natural grass playing field, a regulation athletic track, and advanced lighting systems for nighttime events. Enhancements also include dedicated media transmission booths, updated team and referee changing rooms, and administrative areas, all designed to improve functionality and safety.

Following the completion of civil works, the stadium will proceed to the technical certification process required by national sports organizations. The regional government of Apurímac confirmed the project's progress during a recent technical inspection, reinforcing its commitment to developing sports infrastructure in the region. The modernization is expected to elevate the level of sporting events and cultural activities hosted in Abancay.
