Peru's FIL Lima Book Fair celebrates 30th anniversary with 65 international authors

Lima, Peru, is preparing to host the 30th edition of the FIL Lima Book Fair, the most significant literary event in the Andean nation. Scheduled from July 22 to August 6, the fair will take place at the Jockey Exhibition Center.

This year's event boasts an impressive lineup of over 65 international authors from Latin America, Europe, and Asia. Ecuador will be the guest country of honor, bringing a delegation of more than 30 authors, illustrators, academics, and cultural managers. The fair will also pay tribute to renowned Peruvian authors Alfredo Bryce Echenique, who passed away in March, and Blanca Varela, a celebrated poet of the 20th century.

Attendees can expect a rich cultural program with more than 600 activities, including book presentations, discussions, signings, and reader encounters. Notable international guests include Argentine writer Agustina Bazterrica, Chilean author Alberto Fuguet, and Mexican romance writer América Rodas. Uruguayan writer Fernanda Trías and Colombian author Karine Bernal Lobo will also participate. The fair will also welcome authors from Asia, such as South Koreans Kim Suhyun and Kim Sunmi, and Japanese writer Yusuke Imamura.

The FIL Lima 2026 aims to foster literary exchange and celebrate the written word, offering a platform for both established and emerging voices. The inclusion of a diverse range of international authors and the focus on honoring Peruvian literary figures underscore the fair's commitment to promoting literature on a global scale.
