Peru to Modernize National Stadium for 2027 Pan American Games

Peru's National Sports Institute (IPD) has announced a complete overhaul of the National Stadium, preparing for the 2027 Pan American and Parapan American Games. This initiative, undertaken in partnership with the National Infrastructure Authority (ANIN), aims to enhance key sports venues for the continent's largest multi-sport event, with investments exceeding S/145 million.

IPD President Sergio Ludeña Visalot emphasized the strategic alliance formed through the cooperation agreement. He stated that this partnership is a "firm and decisive step towards the success of the Lima 2027 Pan American and Parapan American Games." Ludeña added that the agreement will fund investments that will transform the nation's sports infrastructure, leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.

The planned improvements for the National Stadium include renovating its facade, optimizing spectator stands and VIP boxes, modernizing restrooms, and installing regulatory signage. Beyond the main stadium, other venues will also see upgrades. The Coliseo Eduardo Dibós, the Las Palmas Air Base for shooting competitions, the Villa Deportiva Regional del Callao for racquetball, and the Army Equestrian School for equestrian events are all slated for modernization.

Significant new facilities are also planned. A modern tennis center will be built at the Pan American Village in Villa El Salvador, featuring new competition and training courts for the Lima 2027 tennis events. Additionally, a specialized facility for sport climbing will be established, alongside Peru's first cricket field. Cricket will debut in the official Pan American Games program, marking a significant expansion of the national sports offerings and creating unprecedented infrastructure for the sport's development in the country.
