PERURI Launches 'Merah Putih' Chip Design Sandbox for Digital Sovereignty

Perusahaan Umum Percetakan Uang Republik Indonesia (PERURI), the state-owned entity responsible for printing Indonesia's money, has officially launched the "Sandbox Desain Chip Merah Putih." This digital testing ground is designed to foster the growth of semiconductor design talent and expertise within Indonesia.

PERURI's CEO, Teguh Arief Indratmoko, emphasized the company's commitment to establishing the highest security standards for protecting the nation's strategic documents and data from cyber threats through independent chip design. Beyond security, the initiative carries a crucial economic mission: to boost foreign exchange efficiency and strengthen Indonesia's position in the global semiconductor ecosystem.

The "Sandbox Desain Chip Merah Putih" is an inclusive platform accessible to students, researchers, industry players, and startups. It allows them to learn, experiment, and create chip designs and prototypes via a web browser, free of charge. This initiative aims to overcome significant barriers in semiconductor research, such as the high cost of equipment and limited access to practical facilities.
