The Peruvian government has officially declared Pope Leo XIV's upcoming visit to the country as a matter of "national interest." The pontiff is scheduled to visit Peru from November 11 to 17, a trip that will be part of a broader South American tour including Uruguay and Argentina.

This governmental designation is intended to facilitate the coordination of all necessary actions for the successful execution of the papal visit. It will allow for streamlined customs procedures for the entry of goods and equipment required during the Pope's stay. A High-Level Extraordinary Commission will be established to set guidelines and strategies, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs leading the national coordination efforts.

Authorities estimate that the Pope's visit will draw approximately 700,000 people across the country. Significant gatherings are expected in Lima, Cusco, Pucallpa, and Chiclayo.
