Peruvian influencer named global K-food ambassador for Latin America

Peruvian influencer Heidy Fernández has been named the Honorary K-food Ambassador for Peru, Latin America, and the Caribbean, joining an elite group of seven international representatives tasked with promoting South Korean culture and gastronomy worldwide. The announcement was made by the South Korean embassy in Peru. Ambassador Jong-Uk Choi emphasized the significance of Fernández's selection, noting Peru's status as a major gastronomic nation and its strong appreciation for Korean culture in Latin America. He expressed hope that Fernández will serve as a crucial link in disseminating K-food throughout the region. Fernández, known for her extensive promotion of Korean culture, K-pop, and K-drama across Latin America via Instagram and TikTok, will collaborate with the embassy to create digital content focused on K-food. This initiative includes developing materials on Korean gastronomic diplomacy and culinary tourism, alongside organizing food exhibitions. The K-Initiative campaign, which Fernández is now part of, aims to enhance South Korea's global image and spread joy through its culture and products, including K-pop, K-drama, K-beauty, K-cinema, and K-food. The initiative also seeks to strengthen diplomatic relations between South Korea and other nations.
