Peruvian Police Dismantle "Los Malditos de Luna Pizarro" Gang After Neighbor Tip-off

Police in Peru's La Victoria district have arrested three individuals suspected of belonging to the criminal group "Los Malditos de Luna Pizarro." The arrests followed an alert from local residents about a man stealing vehicle accessories.

During a police operation, officers were tipped off by residents about a suspect stealing car parts. When the suspect noticed the police, he fled into a nearby building. Officers pursued him and entered the property, leading to the detention of Frida Betty Gallegos Portugal, 79, Víctor Manuel Bejarano Gallegos, 41, and Carlos Joan Mendoza Herrera, 29.

Authorities discovered approximately 400 grams of marijuana, three handguns, 25 rounds of ammunition, two Motorola radios, a laser sight, and a passport belonging to the detainees. Police reports indicate the seized firearms have been reported stolen in various Lima districts throughout 2023. Specifically, a Pietro Beretta was reported stolen on July 12, 2023, in Villa María del Triunfo; a Sig Sauer was reported stolen on February 10, 2023, in Miraflores; and a Glock 17 was reported stolen on June 24, 2023, in Chosica.

The detainees are currently in the custody of the La Victoria PNP Station. They face charges for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as illicit drug trafficking. Police are continuing their investigation to determine if the suspects are linked to other criminal activities in the capital.
