Pesticide tragedy in Çanakkale: 9-year-old Yusuf Talha dies, mother in intensive care

A tragic incident in Çanakkale, Turkey, has resulted in the death of a 9-year-old boy and left his mother in critical condition. The incident occurred Tuesday evening in an apartment on Şehit Gürol Street in Barbaros Neighborhood.

The father, Uğur Çanlı, 41, found his wife Sevda and son Yusuf Talha unconscious upon returning home. He immediately transported them to Mehmet Akif Ersoy State Hospital by car. Both mother and son were later transferred to Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Hospital.

Medical checks revealed that the mother and son had been poisoned. Yusuf's condition worsened, and he was transported by ambulance helicopter to Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital in Istanbul, where he tragically passed away. Authorities are investigating the claim that the mother and son were poisoned by insecticide used in an adjacent apartment. The apartment owner, identified as Z.B., and the pest control company official, Ö.E., have been taken into custody.
