PET disclosure is spectacular, senior researcher says: Denmark must enter a new mental state

The disclosure of concrete Russian plans for sabotage in Denmark marks a turning point in the country’s hybrid war, according to Flemming Splidsboel, a senior researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studies.

The assessment follows the Danish Defence Intelligence Service’s statement in October that Russia was conducting hybrid warfare against Denmark. PET’s disclosure of specific sabotage plans, Splidsboel said, takes the situation to a new level.

Russia’s ambassador has reacted to the disclosure, saying that PET presented no evidence. PET has also reported that Russia has tried to recruit Danish proxies online as part of concrete sabotage plans in Denmark.
