Petroleum Product Supplies to Kyrgyzstan Down 19% Since Year Start

Kyrgyzstan saw a 19% decrease in the import volume of finished petroleum products during the first five months of 2026, according to data from the National Statistical Committee. Despite this decline, the country experienced a substantial increase in liquefied gas imports, indicating a shift in energy resource consumption. A total of 413,136.3 tons of petroleum products were imported, valued at 26.7 billion soms (approximately $305 million).

Russia continues to be the main supplier of petroleum products, providing 272,617.9 tons, though this represents a 12.3% decrease from the previous year. Kazakhstan's supply of petroleum products dropped by 34% to 125,026.2 tons. Notably, imports of crude oil resumed, with 6,391.5 tons arriving valued at 282.4 million soms. The overall import volume of gasoline fell by 22.3% to 327 million liters, with Russia supplying the vast majority.

In contrast, the liquefied gas market showed strong positive growth. Imports of liquefied gas surged by 35.9% to reach 80,430.8 tons. The total cost of these imports was 2.6 billion soms (about $30 million), a 39.1% increase year-on-year. Almost all of this imported gas came from the Russian Federation, with an increase of 39.7%.
