PFN Demands Urgent Government Action on Insecurity After National Fast

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has issued a strong call to the Federal Government, demanding immediate and decisive action to combat the escalating insecurity and attacks targeting Christians nationwide. This appeal comes in the wake of a three-day nationwide fasting and prayer program observed by the PFN from May 22 to May 24, 2026, which coincided with Global Pentecost Day.

The level of banditry, kidnapping, violence insecurity and savage killing all across the Nigerian landscape has risen to an intolerable height.

During a rally in Lagos, PFN leaders and participants marched with placards bearing messages such as "Save Nigeria from Terror" and "Peace and Security Now." A PFN official, Yemi Davies, speaking on behalf of national president Bishop Francis Oke, stated that after intense prayer, the time has come for concrete government intervention. He described the current situation, marked by banditry, kidnapping, violence, and killings across Nigeria, as having reached an intolerable height.

The PFN's demand for action is amplified by recent events, including the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State on May 15, 2026, where over 40 students and several teachers were taken from three schools. The Christian body urged President Bola Tinubu's administration to prioritize the safety of lives and property, characterizing many parts of the country as "killing fields" due to persistent banditry, kidnappings, and other violent crimes.
