Photos show wildfires raging across parts of British Columbia

Wildfires are raging across British Columbia, forcing hundreds of residents to evacuate their homes and placing thousands more on alert. Aggressive fire behavior, fueled by hot and dry conditions, is challenging wildfire crews battling the blazes from both the ground and the air.

The Brunswick Complex, located near Boston Bar, comprises multiple fires including Ainslie Creek, Brunswick Creek, and Anderson Creek. The BC Wildfire Service reported rapid growth along the northern edge of the fire, with the head of the Anderson Creek wildfire merging with the southern edge of the Ainslie Creek wildfire. Structural firefighters are actively defending properties in Boston Bar, Boston Bar First Nation, and Canyon Alpine.

North of Lillooet, the Pear Lake wildfire has led to three evacuation orders and two alerts, impacting the entire Village of Clinton. The BC Wildfire Service anticipates continued fire growth and increased activity as warm and dry weather persists. Residents can expect to see more smoke in the coming days, particularly in the afternoons and evenings.

Other significant fires include the French Bar Creek wildfire, burning out of control over 13,000 hectares in steep terrain, and the Felker wildfire, which prompted an evacuation order and alerts shortly after its discovery. The Bonanza Creek wildfire, near South Chilcotin Mountains Park, is estimated at 7,000 hectares, with crews working on containment lines and structure protection.
