Phu Quoc tourist boats, canoes temporarily halt operations

Phu Quoc's international port in An Thoi saw a significant number of tourist boats and canoes docked and inactive on July 12. Despite calm seas and light winds, boat operators proactively decided to suspend services for the day.

Owners explained their decision stemmed from a capsizing incident that occurred on July 11. Although their vessels are registered to operate in conditions with winds up to level 5, the recent accident prompted caution. "I'm a bit worried after the canoe capsized on July 11," one owner, identified as Mr. H., told reporters. "It's better to temporarily suspend operations to feel at ease."

Mr. H. stated he had already informed tourists and partners about the suspension and processed deposit refunds. Another boat owner, Mr. S., echoed this sentiment, confirming he had also announced a halt to operations without being instructed by authorities. "Every day, we monitor weather information from the Hydro-meteorological Forecasting Center. Today, hearing the weather is bad, we announced a temporary halt to operations to ensure tourist safety and avoid unfortunate incidents," he said.
