Lifeguards rescue drifting man at Daecheon Beach after season closure

Lifeguards at Daecheon Beach performed a daring rescue of a man in his 20s who was found drifting offshore after the beach's official operating season had concluded. The incident occurred on August 24th around 1:30 PM.

The young man was reportedly playing on a tube when he was caught by strong, rolling waves and swept out to sea. Fortunately, lifeguards on duty spotted him and swiftly moved to bring him back to shore. The rescue was successful, and the man was unharmed.

Remarkably, the four lifeguards involved had technically finished their employment contracts as the beach season ended. However, they braved the rough waves to save the drifting man. At the time of the rescue, city officials were in the process of handing over equipment and operational duties.

A city official from Boryeong stated that the city is committed to maintaining safety vigilance and management even after the official closure of beaches. The city is currently deploying additional lifeguards to Daecheon Beach and Muchangpo Beach to ensure visitor safety during the post-season period, with numbers set to increase further into September.
