Pigu.lt: Shoppers turned to computers and headphones ahead of the school year

As the new school year approached, students, pupils and their parents increased their spending on electronics at Lithuania’s Pigu.lt online marketplace. The retailer said demand for computers, smartphones and headphones grew during the final month of summer.

Lenovo and Asus models ranked as the most popular laptops in August, followed by the 13-inch MacBook Air. The leading desktop computer brands were VIST, Lenovo and DELL.

Shoppers spent an average of €1,030 on a laptop and €1,050 on a desktop computer. The average tablet cost €293, while headphones averaged €77. Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, Apple AirPods Pro 3 and Xiaomi Redmi Buds 6 Play were the three best-selling headphone models.

Pigu.lt communications head Nerijus Mikalajūnas said smartphone demand had remained strong throughout the summer, then rose another 10% in the final month before school began. Two Samsung Galaxy models topped the phone rankings, alongside the lower-priced Xiaomi Redmi 15C. Customers paid an average of €405 for a smartphone.

Pigu.lt belongs to PHH Group, a Baltic e-commerce company formed through the merger of Pigu.lt and Finnish retailer Hobby Hall. The group operates online shopping platforms in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland.
