Pilato takes European silver in 50m breaststroke

Benedetta Pilato secured the silver medal in the 50-meter breaststroke at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris. She finished with a time of 29.94 seconds, narrowly missing the gold medal by one-hundredth of a second to Lithuania's Ruta Meilutyte.

Simona Quadarella advanced to the final of the 400-meter freestyle, clocking in at 4:08.07, the fifth-fastest time. This adds to her previous gold medals in the 800m and 1500m events.

Both the women's and men's 4x100m medley relay teams also qualified for the finals. The women's team dominated their heat with a time of 3:57.11, featuring a new Italian record in the opening backstroke leg by Sara Curtis (58.72 seconds). The men's 4x100m medley team secured the third-fastest time.

However, the Italian swimmers in the men's 400m freestyle, Luca and Marco De Tullio, Davide Marchello, and Alessandro Ragaini, did not advance. The evening's finals will feature Giovanni Guatti in the 50m freestyle, Alberto Razzetti in the 200m individual medley, Paola Borrelli in the 200m butterfly, and Thomas Ceccon in the 100m backstroke.
