Pimpinela, the duo that turned relationship fights into songs, prepares for a new chapter

Pimpinela’s story is moving from the stage to the cinema. The Argentine duo formed by siblings Lucía and Joaquín Galán will be portrayed in “Pimpinela, el origen de la leyenda,” a feature film now entering development.

Filming and the film’s commercial release are planned for late 2027. Rather than focusing only on the duo’s success, the production will reconstruct the Galán siblings’ personal and artistic beginnings.

According to the project’s description, the film will examine their experience as the children of immigrants and how a family life shaped by effort and perseverance helped create their distinctive way of portraying romantic relationships. Everyday conflicts became popular anthems such as “Forget Me and Turn Around,” known in Spanish as “Olvídame y pega la vuelta.”

The biopic will also revisit a career spanning more than 40 years, including the duo’s arrival on major international stages such as Madison Square Garden. Lucía and Joaquín Galán remain active and are celebrating 45 years of their career in 2026.

The siblings formed Pimpinela in 1981 at their mother’s initiative. They are the biological children of Spanish immigrants, with Joaquín as the older brother and Lucía as the younger sister. Both are alive and continue performing, despite false social media images in March 2026 that suggested they were a couple. They said the images were digitally fabricated and reaffirmed that they are siblings.
