Pingtung County Launches E-sports Competition for Seniors Aged 55 and Up

Pingtung County is launching the "LEVEL UP! Silver Sparkle Cross-border E-sports Competition" on September 12th, aiming to bridge the digital divide for seniors. The event encourages individuals aged 55 and above to form teams and participate in digital games designed to enhance cognitive function, reaction times, and stamina.

Encourage seniors to activate their brains through games and train their real-time reaction and physical stamina.

The competition features three games: "Bowling Competition," "Dance Revolution," and "Rhythm Cooking." These games combine elements of sports, music, and daily life to train hand-eye coordination, reaction speed, and concentration. The county government emphasizes that the games are simple to operate and easy to understand, allowing seniors to enjoy the fun of digital technology and challenge the stereotype that video games are only for the young.

Participants will be divided into three age groups: "Pioneer Group" (55-64 years old), "Master Group" (65-74 years old), and "Supreme Group" (75+ years old). The top three teams in each group will receive prizes and medals, with a total prize pool exceeding NT$200,000. Registration is open until August 14th.
