Pingtung Experimental High School Maintains Full Enrollment, Sees Rising Scores

The high school division of the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology Experimental High School (NPUS-EHS) has achieved full enrollment for its third consecutive year, demonstrating sustained popularity. The school, established to support the development of the Pingtung Science Park, has seen its admission scores rise annually.

This year, the average score for admitted students met the benchmark of at least three 'A' grades in the junior high school exit examination. The school's growing appeal is further bolstered by its relocation to a newly constructed campus. The first phase of construction, comprising 10 buildings, was completed at the end of July, and students are expected to move in before the September start of the academic year.

Despite a general trend of declining enrollment in senior high schools across Taiwan due to a low birth rate, NPUS-EHS has maintained strong recruitment. For the 115th academic year, the high school division offered 90 spots across three classes, all of which were filled. Including additional enrollment slots, 92 students reported for the upcoming term. This follows similar full enrollment figures in the previous two academic years.

The junior high school division has also seen a surge in interest, with more than 90 applicants vying for 84 spots across three classes for the upcoming ninth-grade intake. Consequently, a lottery system will be implemented for the first time. The school's first cohort of high school seniors will enter their final year in September, preparing for the university entrance exam next year.

The school's facilities are expanding, with the second phase of construction, involving eight buildings, scheduled for completion next year. This expansion will accommodate the enrollment of the kindergarten section. The school currently houses approximately 650 students and staff across its kindergarten, bilingual, elementary, junior high, and high school programs.
