Pingtung Jianguo Road Fire Causes Smoke Diffusion; County Government Urges Residents to Reduce Outdoor Activity

A fire erupted at a car recycling plant located on Jianguo Road in Pingtung City, Pingtung County, Taiwan, sending plumes of smoke into the air.

Firefighters responded promptly and have successfully controlled and extinguished the fire. The Pingtung County Fire Bureau confirmed the blaze was put out, but the Environmental Protection Bureau is currently conducting air quality monitoring and sampling in the affected areas.

Due to the smoke diffusion, authorities are urging residents in downwind areas to take precautions. The Meteorological Agency indicates that the current wind direction is southwesterly, affecting areas including Dawu Village, Qingxi Village, and Chongwu Village in Pingtung City. Residents in these zones are advised to remain indoors, keep windows and doors shut, and minimize outdoor activities.

For those who must go outside, wearing a mask is recommended. The Environmental Protection Bureau will continue to track the air quality situation and provide updates. Residents are also reminded to pay attention to their health and take necessary protective measures.
