Pit bull that attacked child in Bandung quarantined

Police in Bandung, West Java, have secured a pit bull that attacked a third-grade student in the Grand Cendana Residence complex. The dog is now in quarantine.

The incident occurred on Sunday, August 23, and the dog was taken into custody shortly after. "We have agreed with the local neighborhood management that the animal will be quarantined and will no longer be in the residential area or at its owner's home," said Kapolsek Pameungpeuk, Kompol Asep Dedi Asep.

The dog's owner, identified as F (40), has been cooperative. The owner even accompanied the victim and their family to the hospital. The child suffered a torn wound to the head and ear from the dog's bite and has undergone surgery at RS Welas Asih. The victim's condition is gradually improving.

"The victim's wounds are on the head and ear. Surgery was performed on the ear last night, and this morning the victim was moved to the recovery room," Asep stated. The victim's family has not yet filed an official report with the police seeking accountability from the dog's owner.

"As of now, the victim's family has not come to the police station to file an official report or a statement of non-pursuit," Asep added. He reminded the public of legal regulations regarding pet attacks, stating that owners can face up to 2 years and 8 months in prison. "This serves as a lesson for all members of the community who own dogs to take good care of their animals," he said.
