Pitbull Concert Canceled, Latvians Head Elsewhere as "Summer Sound" Festival Begins on the Coast

The "Summer Sound" festival, one of the largest music events in the Baltic states, has kicked off on the beaches of Liepaja, Latvia. The festival is renowned for its unique seaside atmosphere, with concerts taking place just steps from the Baltic Sea.

This year's lineup boasts a diverse range of electronic, rock, and hip-hop artists. Headlining are global stars such as Alan Walker, a popular DJ and producer known for hits like "Faded"; Hardwell, a Dutch electronic music legend; the UK's "Sigma," famous for their drum & bass tracks; and the energetic American punk rock band "Gogol Bordello."

Local talent is also prominently featured, with performances from popular Latvian artists including "Bermudu Divstūris," "Singapūras Satīns," "ansis," "Tautumeitas," Ozols, and many others. The festival also includes performances by the acclaimed Estonian artist Tommy Cash.

Over two days, attendees can enjoy music across multiple stages, DJ sets extending into the early morning, beach parties, and dedicated areas for sports, volleyball, dining, and relaxation by the sea. "Summer Sound" annually draws tens of thousands of visitors from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and other countries, solidifying its status as a major summer music destination in the region.
