Plateau State Governor Mourns Veteran Journalist Dotun Oladipo

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of Plateau State has extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Dotun Oladipo and the Nigerian media industry following the passing of the Publisher of Eagle Online Newspaper. Oladipo, a veteran journalist, is remembered for his significant contributions to the field.

In a statement released by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, Governor Mutfwang lauded Oladipo as an "ace journalist and a towering figure" whose work profoundly influenced public discourse, championed democracy and good governance, and positively represented Nigeria internationally. The governor commended Oladipo's decades-long career, characterized by professionalism, intellectual depth, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to ethical journalism.

Governor Mutfwang also highlighted Oladipo's dedication to mentoring younger journalists, noting that his efforts were instrumental in cultivating a new generation equipped to serve the nation effectively. The governor recalled a personal, cherished memory of meeting Oladipo during a visit by the Nigerian Guild of Editors to Plateau State for its Annual General Meeting, expressing deep sorrow over his death.

The governor emphasized that Oladipo's demise represents a monumental loss not only to his immediate family, the Nigerian Guild of Editors, the Nigerian Union of Journalists, and the broader journalism profession but also to the entire media community and the nation. He prayed for eternal rest for the deceased and comfort for his grieving family and colleagues.
