Plateau State Governor Restructures Security, Appoints New Operation Rainbow Coordinator

Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has initiated a significant overhaul of the state's security apparatus, announcing new appointments designed to bolster safety across communities and educational institutions. The move signals a renewed commitment to addressing security challenges within the region.

Brigadier General Nash Yakubu (Rtd) has been appointed as the new Coordinator of Operation Rainbow, the state's indigenous security initiative. Yakubu brings extensive experience from a 35-year military career, including participation in national and international missions, counter-insurgency operations, and peacekeeping efforts in Sierra Leone, Sudan, and Nigeria's Northeast.

In a related development, Brigadier General Gakji Shipi Goshwe (Rtd) has been reassigned to coordinate the Safe School Programme. Shipi previously served as the acting coordinator for Operation Rainbow and as Special Adviser on Security, earning multiple military commendations for his service.

Furthermore, Governor Mutfwang appointed Maj. Gen. Bala A. Isandu (Rtd) as the new Special Adviser on Security. Isandu's background includes significant intelligence work, having served as Senior Special Assistant (Intelligence) to the Minister of Defence and as Director of the Defence Intelligence Agency, with a career marked by numerous local and international assignments.

According to a statement from the Secretary to the Government of the State, Arc. Samuel N. Jatau, these appointments are effective immediately. The administration views these changes as vital for enhancing security, safeguarding lives and property, and strengthening the safety measures in schools. Governor Mutfwang expressed confidence in the appointees' professional capabilities and urged them to leverage their expertise to foster a secure and prosperous Plateau State.
