Plenković criticized by coalition partner DP over hazardous waste in Lika

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković is under considerable pressure regarding the illegal dumping of hazardous waste in the Lika region. Opposition parties, including Most, SDP, and Drito, have announced initiatives for his impeachment and called for an urgent parliamentary session.

President Zoran Milanović has also demanded an immediate cleanup of the site. However, Plenković appears in no hurry, announcing that the remediation will proceed after a public procurement process, which could take months. This delay has drawn criticism from various political factions.

The situation has become more politically challenging for Plenković as his main coalition partner, the Homeland Movement (DP), has joined the chorus of criticism. This internal dissent within the ruling coalition adds a significant layer of complexity to the government's response to the environmental crisis.
