Plenković: Investigation will show cause of accident; good there were no victims

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković has expressed regret following a train collision that occurred near the town of Škrinjari. Speaking after a meeting with local government leaders, Plenković highlighted that the incident resulted in injuries but, fortunately, no fatalities. He emphasized that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.

"The investigation will show what caused the accident; I cannot comment on that at this moment. What is important is that the injured were provided with the quickest possible care through emergency medical services... it is good that there were no fatalities," Plenković stated. He assured that all injured individuals received prompt medical attention.

In a separate but related matter, Plenković addressed the issue of illegally dumped waste in the Gospić area. He asserted that those responsible must be prosecuted and that a comprehensive remediation plan will be prepared. Referencing a past case of baled waste near Varaždin, he noted that the state had supported the remediation project to resolve the problem. Plenković promised citizens that accountability would be enforced for the illegal dumping and that the waste would be cleaned up.
