PLG Finals: Lee Kai-wei prioritizes team victory over FMVP

Taoyuan Pauian Pilots guard Lee Kai-wei is preparing for the upcoming PLG Finals with a focus on team success rather than individual accolades. As the team enters the championship series, Lee expressed his readiness and anticipation for the games.

Reflecting on the finals opponent, the Fubon Braves, Lee noted significant changes since last year. He anticipates increased team cohesion from the Braves, potentially driven by veteran Lin Chih-chieh's imminent retirement. Lee also pointed to the coaching change, with new head coach Hsu Chin-che emphasizing a faster transition offense, which he identified as a key strength.

"Coach Hsu now emphasizes fast breaks more; previously, there were more one-on-one plays. This is their advantage. We have done our homework and will prepare our response for their fast breaks and defensive strategies," Lee stated.

Regarding defensive assignments, Lee indicated he doesn't have a specific individual task but will focus on containing foreign player De'Mon Brooks and Lin Chih-chieh. He praised Lin's clutch performance in the previous playoff series, highlighting the need for strong physical defense against him and limiting Brooks' scoring opportunities.

When asked about pursuing the Finals MVP award, Lee reiterated his priority: "I won't think about individual awards or FMVP. If the team needs defensive pressure, I'll take it on; if the offense stalls, I'll provide three-point support. Team victory is absolutely paramount over individual honors."
