PLN Restores Electricity in NTT, 429 Substations Normal After Earthquake

PT PLN (Persero) is working to restore the electrical system in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck the Flores Sea on Saturday. As of Saturday afternoon, 429 distribution substations that had been affected by the tremor were back online.

General Manager of PLN UIW NTT, F Eko Sulistyono, stated that the restoration process involves systematically checking and repairing all parts of the electrical system. Initially, PLN had identified 3,478 distribution substations experiencing disruptions. The Maumere PLTMG (Geothermal Power Plant) has been declared safe and is a key part of the initial normalization efforts.

In addition to distribution substations, PLN is also repairing affected main substations. Six out of 11 main substations that were impacted have resumed operation. PLN teams are continuing to inspect and repair various components of the electrical system, from power generation and transmission to main substations and distribution networks.

PLN is prioritizing power supply to vital facilities, including hospitals and disaster response posts, to ensure continuous support for earthquake-affected communities. Eko requested public prayers and support, emphasizing PLN's commitment to working tirelessly for a swift restoration while maintaining safety as the top priority.
