PM Balen Shah to face lawmakers' questions on border, nationalism

Nepal's Prime Minister Balen Shah is scheduled to face direct questioning from lawmakers in the House of Representatives today, addressing critical national issues including border affairs, nationalism, and the government's operational methods. The questions, submitted to the Parliament Secretariat, are being kept confidential until the session begins to encourage spontaneous and substantive responses.

Parliament officials stated that the registered questions focus on specific issues related to nationalism, border concerns, and the government's activities and working style. This direct question-and-answer format is provided for under Rule 56 of the House of Representatives Regulations, allowing the Speaker to dedicate time for the Prime Minister to address matters directly under his purview.

Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal has allocated the first hour of the session for this purpose, as per parliamentary procedure. A total of 11 lawmakers from various parties, including the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, and Nepali Communist Party, have registered questions. Rule 58 mandates that lawmakers provide written notice of their question's subject at least three days prior to the meeting, a deadline met by the August 21 submission.
