PM Modi meets CEOs of space startups, urges to expand applications

During an interaction with CEOs and founders of 20 space startups, Modi emphasized the need for greater collaboration between space companies and sectors such as agriculture and environmental protection. He encouraged these companies to look beyond their current applications and focus on how their innovations can directly improve the lives of citizens. Specific suggestions included partnerships between space debris removal firms and environmental organizations, and collaborations between agricultural technology developers and universities to aid farmers in making informed decisions and boosting crop yields.

Modi articulated a vision where "when the world thinks of space, it looks towards India." He believes the country's space sector has the potential to attract significant global talent, companies, and investment, fostering a robust ecosystem. The participating startup leaders reported rapid advancements in India's private space industry and noted growing international interest in adopting Indian space technologies. They also expressed appreciation for government support since the sector opened to private participation.

The startups represented a wide array of specializations, including rocket development, avionics, satellite technology, advanced propulsion systems, defense intelligence, space debris removal, and AI-powered climate intelligence. Prime Minister Modi congratulated the leaders for their pioneering efforts, stating that their confidence reinforces the vision behind opening the sector to private players. He highlighted that many countries lack the capacity or willingness to invest in space, presenting India with a strategic opportunity to enhance its global standing.
