PM visits Deputy PM, former PM at heart institute

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim made a personal visit to the National Heart Institute to see Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof and former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob. Both leaders are recovering from separate cardiac procedures.

Fadillah is recuperating after undergoing heart bypass surgery the previous week. Ismail Sabri, meanwhile, received a pacemaker on Friday to address an abnormal heart rhythm. He had been admitted to the institute the day before after experiencing heart problems while giving testimony to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. The testimony concerned spending and financing for the Malaysian Family initiative between 2021 and 2022.

Anwar, accompanied by his wife Azizah, expressed well wishes for their speedy recovery and continued strength in serving the people. This follows a previous hospitalization for Ismail Sabri approximately two weeks prior, after he fell and his heart reportedly stopped beating for about two seconds.
