PNL and USR propose amendment to Integrity Law for public financial declarations

Members of Romania's Parliament from the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Save Romania Union (USR) have jointly submitted an amendment to the Integrity Law. The proposed change would require all dignitaries and individuals holding public authority positions to submit public financial interest declarations. This measure would encompass high-ranking officials, including the President, Prime Minister, members of Parliament, and leaders of key public institutions such as the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF), the National Bank of Romania (BNR), the Competition Council, the Ombudsman, and the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM). According to the amendment, these financial interest declarations would be made public within 60 days of their generation by the National Integrity Agency through its e-DAI platform. PNL representatives emphasized the need for robust integrity standards and effective conflict of interest controls in Romania. They urged all parliamentarians to vote for both the new Integrity Law and the financial interest declaration amendment during the upcoming extraordinary session of Parliament. This legislative push aligns with Romania's commitments under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), which includes reforms related to wealth and interest declarations.
