Poetic Anthology Honors 900th Anniversary of Philosopher Averroes with 120 Poets

A poetic anthology bringing together 120 poets from 14 countries has been launched to commemorate the 900th anniversary of the birth of Averroes (Ibn Rushd), the renowned philosopher from Cordoba and Marrakech.

This "Poetic Anthology," as described by participant Abdelaziz Koukas, is an international literary initiative designed to honor the 900th birth anniversary of Abu al-Walid Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Rushd, a pivotal figure of Andalusian civilization. The project aims to foster a space for intercultural and multilingual dialogue, drawing inspiration from the universal humanistic and philosophical legacy of the "wise man of Cordoba."

The anthology will be disseminated through a publication translated by nine translators, a digital platform, and various international gatherings. It is scheduled for presentation in Cordoba and Marrakech in September, followed by events in Fez and Madrid in November.

The publication is entrusted to the esteemed publisher "Almuzara" and receives support from significant institutions. These include the Cervantes Institute, the "Cedro" center, the Ministry of Culture of the Andalusian government, the Municipality of Cordoba, the Moroccan Association for Andalusian Friendship "Averroes Forum," and the "Balearia" Foundation. These entities have collaborated to ensure the success of this project, which is poised to be a prominent cultural initiative within the "Year of Averroes."
