Pogačar in shock after Mas's unexpected challenge in Vuelta stage

Tadej Pogačar claimed his third stage victory at the Vuelta a España, but the Slovenian rider experienced an unexpected challenge that left him in shock. Enric Mas proved to be the only rider capable of responding to Pogačar's attack during the sixth stage.

On a gravel section of the climb, Pogačar accelerated, a move that Mas countered effectively. This unexpected resistance from Mas momentarily disrupted Pogačar, who narrowly avoided a crash by going off the road. Despite the scare, Pogačar regained composure and demonstrated his dominance in the race.

Mas's impressive ride, described as his best of the season, propelled him to second place, displacing Primož Roglič. Roglič also delivered a strong performance, finishing within the leading chase group. The sixth stage was set up for Pogačar to attempt something special, and while he succeeded in winning the stage, Mas's challenge highlighted the competitive nature of the race.
