Pohang Boosts High-Speed Train Services to Seoul, Suseo with Seven Daily Trips

Pohang City announced that high-speed train services connecting the city to Seoul and Suseo will be significantly expanded starting September 1. A total of seven additional round trips will be added daily, enhancing travel convenience and accessibility for residents and visitors. The Korea Train eXpress (KTX) service between Pohang and Seoul Station will see its weekday frequency increase from 29 to 32 trips, and weekend services will rise from 31 to 34 trips. Additionally, the Super Rapid Train (SRT) service between Pohang and Suseo Station will double its daily frequency from four to eight trips. This expansion is expected to broaden transportation options, particularly for those traveling to the southern part of the Seoul metropolitan area and Gyeonggi Province. The city aims to alleviate issues faced by commuters and tourists due to sold-out KTX and SRT tickets, especially during weekdays and weekends. Improved scheduling is anticipated to significantly reduce travel inconveniences. Pohang City plans to continue monitoring transportation demands and collaborating with relevant authorities like the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Korea Railroad Corporation to further enhance rail services and expand the metropolitan transportation network.
